SIGMA-GEO offers electrical prospecting studies using the 3D TEM method in order to predict subsurface conditions of drilling.

The relevance

A significant increase in the cost of drilling operations in the event of accidents associated with the opening of zones of intense loss or objects with abnormally high reservoir pressure (AHRP), makes the prediction of subsurface conditions of drilling very relevant.

Solutions

Выявляются интервалы с различными типами осложнений и нефтегазоводопроявлениями (НГВП)

The method for local prediction of brine zones has been patented and tested at one of the largest gas condensate fields in Eastern Siberia.

Conceptually, the prediction of drilling conditions includes the following stages:

  • Based on the results of the 3D TEM survey, a 3D model of the geoelectric characteristics of the section at the location of the target well is formed.
  • In combination with TEM, geological, structural and tectonic and hydrodynamic criteria for predicting complications are analyzed.
  • Intervals with various types of complications and showings of oil-gas and water are identified.

Geoelectric criteria for subsurface conditions of drilling:

  • AHRP zones are clearly localized and have contrasting electrical properties.
  • Brine reservoir layers are characterized by increased conductivity.
  • The presence of gradient zones of sharp changes in the geoelectric properties of rocks.

The effect of using  TEM for the prediction of subsurface conditions of drilling

The effect is to minimize accidents during exploration and production drilling by choosing the optimal design and path of directional and horizontal wells, taking into account the prediction of opening intervals with abnormally low and abnormally high reservoir pressure.
